Lunch and Learn Roundtable of the Anti Corruption Law Program (ACLP): The Value Added of Compliance Performance in the Mining Sector

You are invited to join us for a Lunch and Learn Roundtable of the Anti Corruption Law Program (ACLP) on the subject of The Value Added of Compliance Performance in the Mining Sector. The Roundtable will focus on what the major mining companies are looking for when performing due diligence in anticipation of the acquisition of junior or midsize companies. Discussion at the Roundtable will address the following issues:

1. The anti-corruption program that has been established by the target company; its breadth and depth

2. The human rights program that has been established by the target company

The Roundtable format will enable a robust discussion between all participants on these issues, rather solely consist of podium presentations followed by Q&A. However, there will be a panel to facilitate the Roundtable discussions consisting of the following experts:

James Gowans – President of Arizona mining. Jim has experience on both sides of the issues, having been former COO and Co-President of Barrick Gold.

Joseph Ringwald – President and CEO of ScoZinc Mining. Joe has over 30 years mining and construction experience including senior management positions in exploration, development, operations and consulting companies. His career has taken him into numerous countries on five continents to work on underground and surface projects of various commodities including base and precious metals, uranium, coal, industrial minerals and diamonds. In addition, Joe was Member of the Canadian Mirror Committee to the ISO for Anti-Bribery (ISO 37001) and as such was integral to the development of ISO 37001. Joe was also a past director Transparency International.

Amir Adnani – Chair and Founder of GoldMining Inc. (formerly Brazil Resources) with projects in Brazil, Colombia, US and Chair of Canadian Uranium Energy, with projects in Paraguay and USA.

Alan Franklin – Roundtable Chair. Alan is Managing Director of Global Business Risk Management, which engages in consulting and educational courses on international business risk management, with focus on the extractive industries. Alan also teaches courses on risk management to the Executive MBA students at Athabasca University.
