James MacNeil

Mining Specialist
McKinsey & Co., NY

who will deliver a presentation on:

Harnessing Potential of Digital and Advanced Analytics in Transforming Mining Companies

Abstract: In the mining industry, recent improvements in commodity prices and resulting cash flows, have led many companies to invest heavily in innovative technologies to improve their productivity. These bundles of improvements are coming in the form of digital transformations happening in waves at mines in remote locations across the world. Over the past few years, high priority digital transformation initiatives have been automated mobile equipment, predictive maintenance and advanced dispatching techniques. The next wave will likely include stochastic mine planning, advanced exploration and mineral processing techniques which have the ability to further elevate miner’s profits.

BIO: James is currently a specialist consultant in the Mining and Metals practice at McKinsey & Company in New York. He counsels a global base of clients on strategies to increase their profits through the application of advanced mine planning techniques and digital technologies. Prior to McKinsey, James was a Senior Research Assistant in the COSMO Laboratory at McGill. James holds a bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mining Engineering.
