For its Monday, December 15, 2025, Discussion Group seminar, CIM’s Management and Economics Society (MES), as part of its quarterly Perspectives & Insights on Metals and Mines series, is pleased to welcome:
Rob McEwen
Chairman & Chief Owner of McEwen Inc – MUX on NYSE & TSX
who will deliver an online presentation on:
Houston, We Have a Big Problem (but) With Solutions
Abstract: McEwen Mining and McEwen Copper are committed to exploring ways to strengthen the image of mining, attract a younger demographic to join our industry, and increase awareness of mining as a critical component of our modern world. Otherwise, the consequences are dire. We may not have the manpower and skills to expand and operate the existing mines, do so in a productive fashion, and build the projects necessary to supply the world’s growing appetite for metals.
Clearly, mining needs an overall image makeover while it manages environmental challenges related to water, waste, and tailings. This is why McEwen, through its operations and projects, is actively working to improve public perception of mining while engaging with communities at every level. The goal is to highlight the indispensable role that mining and metals play in sustaining modern life and advancing civilization. An example of this commitment is the McEwen Copper project at Los Azules in Argentina, which serves as a model of environmental stewardship.
Its design places advanced environmental standards at the forefront, ensuring that ESG principles remain uncompromising. Los Azules represents the mine of the future; built to be environmentally responsible, visually appealing, supportive of employee well-being, and capable of reshaping negative perceptions of the industry. In addition to its environmental leadership, Los Azules is a world-class copper deposit and is expected to become one of the world’s first regenerative copper mines when operations begin in 2030.
The presentation will conclude with an overview of McEwen’s gold and silver operations, focusing on increasing production while reducing costs. It will also include a review of the outlook for gold markets, a discussion of mining opportunities and policies in Argentina, and a comparison of major global copper projects with Los Azules.

About CIM MES’ Mineral Economics Discussion Group:
Since the mid-1980s, meetings of the Mineral Economics Discussion Group have taken place approximately once per month in Toronto between September and April. A regular program of meetings has taken place in Vancouver since 2015 and in Montreal since 2017. Speakers have addressed almost every aspect of the minerals industry except for strictly technical topics in geology, mining, and metallurgical engineering. A collegial, seminar-style atmosphere is fostered in order to allow lively discussion and exchange of ideas, with opportunities to network and socialize at live events. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, a full program has been maintained in a webinar format that better serves all our CIM and CIM MES members and guests throughout Canada and internationally.
